Accessing Checklists Within an Encounter
Checklists can be found within all encounter types
- Open the client chart
- Navigate to any Encounter
- Once inside the encounter, locate the Checklist icon on the right side of the screen
- Click the checklist icon to view or manage the checklist
From there, you can:
- View existing checklist items
- Complete tasks
- Add new tasks if needed
Checklists help ensure required steps are completed during each visit type including Prenatal, Postpartum, Gynecological, Newborn, Labor and Delivery, Primary Care, and Transfer of Care.
Checklist Panel Overview
At the top of the panel, you will see:
- Active tab – Displays current and in progress checklists
- Completed tab – Displays finished checklists
- + Add New – Create a new checklist for this encounter
- + Add Template – Add one or more existing templates
- X – Close the panel
- Resize icon – Maximize or minimize the panel
Maximize and Minimize
The resize icon allows you to expand or reduce the Checklist panel
When minimized, you can continue documenting in the encounter while keeping the Checklist panel open
You can move back and forth between documentation and the checklist without closing it
Adding a New Checklist
- Click + Add New
- Enter the checklist name
- Add tasks
- Save
This creates a checklist specific to the current encounter
Adding a Template
- Click + Add Template
- Review available templates
Each template displays:
- Template name
- Created by
- Visibility status
- Number of tasks
- Select one or multiple templates using the checkbox on the right
- Click Add Templates
- Click Go Back if you do not want to add a template
The selected templates will appear under the Active tab
Working Within an Active Checklist
Under the Active tab, you will see:
- Checklist name
- Task progress indicator such as 2/4 tasks
- More options menu
- Expand and collapse arrow
Expanding a Checklist
Click the arrow to expand and view all tasks
You can:
- Check the box to complete a task
- View who completed the task and the date and time
- Add additional tasks
- Delete tasks using the trash icon
- Reorder tasks using the drag handle
Completed tasks will display a checkmark and appear crossed out
The task counter updates automatically as tasks are completed
Assigning Tasks
Each task includes an assignment icon on the right
To assign a task:
- Click the assignment icon
- Select an EHR user or the client
- Save your selection
You can:
- Assign tasks to a specific staff member
- Assign tasks to the client
- Reassign tasks as needed
Assigning tasks improves accountability and clarifies responsibility during the encounter
Completed Tab
Once all tasks are completed, the checklist will move to the Completed tab
